The Mill Valley Cultural Arts Umbrella and the Roosevelt Park Recreation

MVCAU’s Umbrella Radio again will broadcast onsite; the new Internet radio station was a big hit at the April Art in the Park. Proceeds will fund the Mill Valley Cultural Art Umbrella’s Youth Arts Program. The spring issue of the Maryland Lawyers for the Arts newsletter has articles of interest to artists of all kinds. Maryland filmmakers will profit from reading “What the Maryland Film Office Wants You to Know About Filming on Location in Maryland.” The article answers questions like: How do I get my locations if I have a tiny budget? How do I write a script to avoid difficult, expensive, and hard-to-get locations?  Don’t citizens (like me) own public parks and public buildings?  What are my unavoidable “hard” costs? What about gunplay or stunts?

Kathi Ash of the Maryland Film Office was the source of information for the article. Meanwhile, the Maryland Lawyers for the Arts’ third annual Jazz Night will be held on Thursday, June 19, from 6 to 8:30 p.m., at the Clipper Mill pool. Tickets are $35; send an e-mail to This email address is being protected from spam bots, you need Javascript enabled to view it
